Will “Threepeat” shirts be a hot selling item at San Fernando High? That is a question to ask in December. But the two-time defending champion Tigers begin their pursuit of a third straight City Section Division II title by hosting dangerous Sierra Canyon tonight, Aug. 28.
This game is a bit of a role reversal. In 2013 the Trailblazers were coming off an 11-2 season that ended with a Southern Section playoff loss to Alhambra. San Fernando had won the 2012 City Division II championship, but were still decided underdogs. But the Tigers roared on to a 27-13 victory, and went on to a 14-0 year. Sierra Canyon kept stumbling to a 5-6 record.
Expect the Trailblazers to come into the San Fernando game hungry and focused, and ready to prove the same point the Tigers made against them last year.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m at San Fernando High.
