Sylmar – A 57-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man died Sunday, May 9 in Sylmar when the woman’s vehicle was struck by a driver who crossed over double yellow lines, travelling into her lane and hitting her head-on, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner office identified the woman as Violet Nazari, who lived in Granada Hills.
She died at the scene.
The Coroner’s office also identified a second person killed in the crash as 32-year-old Juan Munoz from Sylmar. He was a passenger in the car that collided into Nazari’s vehicle. He died at an area hospital.
The crash was reported at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at 16637 W. Foothill Blvd., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s spokesperson Brian Humphrey.
The area is a wide, lonely stretch of Foothill Boulevard, right before it connects with Balboa Boulevard.
The driver’s name has not yet been released, he is only described as a 50-year-old man.
The 50-year-old driver was also transported by paramedics to a hospital, a dispatcher said. Information on his condition has also not been released.
