Council District 6 Chief of Staff Alexis Wesson, service providers and community leaders launched the grand opening of Branford Village Tiny Homes in Sun Valley on Thursday, Feb. 9. Built on the site of a former encampment, Branford Village will be home to 160 formerly unhoused Angelenos.
The unhoused individuals began moving into the campus last week with the aid of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). The campus features a community area, on-site laundry facilities, meal service and on-site service providers to assist residents.
Volunteers of America will be providing on-the-ground support to residents and hosting community-building events. The homes, which were under construction for around a year, are free to stay in.
Unhoused individuals were selected by LAHSA. Council District 6 built a list of unhoused individuals in the area with close partnership with LAHSA and local nonprofits North Valley Caring Services and LA Family Housing.
