NORTHRIDGE (CNS) – A woman in her 30s was fatally struck by a hit-and-run motorist today while she was pushing a shopping cart on a road in the Northridge area.

The crash occurred around 2:55 a.m. on Tampa Avenue and Business Center Drive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The woman was struck on the northbound side of Tampa Avenue near the curb, and the motorist fled the scene north on Tampa toward Nordhoff Street, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the location, where they pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Her name was being withheld by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner pending notification of relatives.

The city has a standing reward offer of up to $50,000 for information leading to a conviction in a fatal hit-and-run.
