VAN NUYS (CNS) – A man and a woman who were killed when they were struck by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train in Van Nuys were identified Wednesday, June 12.
Bunny Martinez, 39, and Jessie Lopez, 26, were identified as the victims of the collision by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office.
The crash was reported at 9:29 p.m. Sunday east of 7600 Woodman Ave., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.
Humphrey said both were pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported and none of the passengers or crew aboard the train required medical assistance, he said.
The train remained stopped at the scene for the investigation, Humphrey said.




The 2 young people that were killed in the train accident were friends of mine I have known Bunny for 8 years she was a very quiet young lady who had a heart of gold very sweet young lady and I started high school with her father at van nuys hi back in 1975 I no how hard this must be on him they were close and he loved her like she loved him very sad I was with her earlier that day I’ll miss her smile and her laugh rest peacefully bunny because you sure in the hell deserve it I no she’s looking down from heaven and will be watching over all her friends we all miss you so much Bunny from your friend Michael Metzler and for Jessie who was also a friend of mine but he was a lot young than me but I would see him riding his bike thru the neighborhood and he would always stop and say hi he was a good young man and had a whole life ahead of him but unfortunately it came to a tragic end a few nights ago so sad Jessie rest peacefully young man you also deserve it I’ll miss the both of you until we see each other again much love and respect your friend Mike OG
