A coalition of African American leaders is calling for the immediate arrest of a Taco Bell Cantina security guard after a viral video revealed him hitting an African American woman in the face.
โWe do not condone the behavior in this video and take this matter very seriously,โ the Taco Bell Corporation wrote in a statement to the San Fernando Valley Sun/el Sol. โWe are informed that the guard in this video is no longer with the third-party security company and the franchisee is conducting a full investigation.โ
The incident occured on Feb. 9 at the downtown Los Angeles location at 7th Street and Flower Street.
The video shows the unidentified woman and the security guard in a dispute before she walks over to a digital ordering screen. As she starts typing the security guard pulls her away and immediately hits her in the face. As the woman is heard saying โget away from me,โ the guard repeatedly asks her to leave, which she eventually does.
Najee Ali, director of Project Islamic Hope is leading a protest tomorrow, Sat. Feb. 15, at noon in front of the Taco Bell Cantina.
โWe will be here demanding justice for our sister,โ said Ali.
They are calling for a meeting with Taco Bell leadership and the immediate arrest and prosecution of the security guard.
โWe demand that Sean Tresvant, the CEO of Taco Bell, meet with African American leaders immediately to discuss this travesty and to ensure the safety and improved security measures at Taco Bell stores nationwide,โ said Ali. โ[We] demand that the security officer who viciously assaulted a homeless woman, who is one of the weakest members of society, be brought to justice with an arrest and prosecution.โ
Ali said that he and others are searching for the victim, who is believed to be a local homeless woman.
Again the news not stating facts. The video shows the women trys to swing first but his quick reflex was able to slap her. Watch in slow motion, His jacket is blocking her right hand but her can clearly see her swinging first. You can tell by his body movement that his slap was not premeditated but in defense. This kind of reporting without close examination and report it as racism is just the media trying to gain more views and readers regardless of the poor man now losing his job over a women who would not listen and use her race for her actions.
