Amidst the unrest and uncertainty brought on by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that took place across Los Angeles, Cry Baby’s Rodeo in the City of San Fernando has started an photo art installation for the community to remember and celebrate their immigrant relatives.

Called “Roots & Dreams,” the installation is open to anyone from the community to place photos of loved ones who came to the United States in search of a better life.

Michelle Elisa Lima, who works at the store, came up with the idea. She said it was a way to pay homage to her mother, who immigrated to the City of San Fernando, and allow people to focus on the “beauty” of immigration rather than fear.

The installation will continue today and tomorrow until 6 p.m. Elisa Lima encourages more people in the community to submit photos, but asks they be copies and not the originals. When the installation is over, those who submitted photos will be contacted later to pick them up.
