Last week, community members, partner organizations and civic leaders from across Los Angeles joined representatives of LA Family Housing (LAFH) and LAFHBuilds for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the grand opening of “The Cielo” in Chatsworth. The housing project utilized prefabricated modular construction to create 99 permanent supportive homes for homeless individuals. It was built as part of the City of LA’s Measure HHH Innovation Challenge Award.
“For the first time in eight years, I feel ready for what comes next,” said Kyle Phipps, a resident at The Cielo who has experienced chronic homelessness. “After eight years without a home, my wife and I finally have one. Today I’m working. I’m getting ready to finance a car. I’m staying clean and sober. My biggest goal is earning back my kids’ trust and being the father they deserve. They come visit me here. They are proud of me and that means everything.”

Really getting tired of Chatsworth bearing the brunt of the mental health and homeless crisis. Who else is stepping up??
