As students returned to school this week across the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and other districts, many parents experienced a renewed sense of concern about possible immigration enforcement activities, which have continued in the San Fernando Valley, LA and the country.
Luis and his wife Eva understand those fears all too well. Last fall he was picked up by immigration enforcement agents, and what followed was a nightmare that lasted almost a year. Luis was held at the Adelanto Detention Facility and was finally released last month, though what the future holds for him and his family still remains unclear.
The couple shared their gratitude for everyone who has supported them along their difficult journey during an anti-ICE demonstration on July 25 in downtown Los Angeles, which was part of the national “Disappeared in America” Day of Action.
They recently spoke with the San Fernando Valley Sun/el Sol about their story, which will be published in next week’s edition.
