LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Los Angeles County election officials were recruiting bilingual workers Tuesday, Aug. 25, to staff Vote Centers for the Nov. 3 general election.
The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office is seeking people who speak English and one of several languages for which bilingual workers are in high demand, including Japanese, Korean, Khmer, Chinese, Tagalog, Thai, Armenian, Farsi, Vietnamese, Russian, Gujarati, Urdu, Hindi, Lao and Mongolian.
Election workers help open and operate Vote Centers, assist voters and support the voting process throughout the election period, according to the county.
“Election workers are essential to delivering an accessible voting experience across LA County,” Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean C. Logan said. “We encourage bilingual community members to join our team to serve their community in a meaningful way, assist voters in their preferred language and help every voter participate in the democratic process with confidence.”
Election workers will receive training before the election and can earn up to $1,080 during the election period, officials said.
An additional stipend is available for bilingual election workers who speak, read and write in one of the county’s supported languages.
The Nov. 3 general election will include federal, state and local races.
