The San Fernando Police shot and killed a man late last night at approximately 11:45 pm. who they said was wielding a shovel. The man’s identity has not been released but is described as Hispanic with black hair, wearing knee length blue denim shorts, red socks and beige colored slides.
San Fernando Interim Police Chief Anthony Miranda said officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon near Third and Maclay. A woman who was parked in her car is said to be a victim but police have not disclosed if she was threatened, assaulted or injured by the man. The woman has also not been identified.
Investigators are currently in the alleyway behind Library Plaza were the man’s body currently remains. Numbered Bullet casings can be seen in Library Plaza’s back parking lot and in the alleyway. One man near the scene reported hearing as many as 15 shots fired. It is not yet known if SFPD officers were wearing body cams.
