Pride Month is here, meaning there are plenty of events throughout the rest of June centered around the LGBTQ+ community. While the big WeHo Pride event in West Hollywood ended this past weekend, there are still plenty more festivals taking place closer to residents in the San Fernando Valley.

One of them is the Fifth Annual Foothills Pride Festival this Saturday, June 13, at noon. This family-friendly celebration at Sunland Park is set to feature live performances, art and plenty of LGBTQ+ pride informational booths for the local community.

All month long, the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is having Pride at the Park events to celebrate community and inclusion with mini festivals, live performances, activities, wellness resources and the opportunity to learn more about LGBTQ+ history. The majority of these events are taking place out of the valley, but one will be held in Sylmar at El Cariso Community Regional Park on Thursday, June 18, at 5 p.m.

On June 20, there will be a community Pride Picnic in the Park at Woodley Park. All LGBTQ+ identities are welcome. This event, starting at 12 p.m., is a casual gathering where you can lounge in the shade, play some lawn games and meet new people in the community. A mocktail will be provided, but bring your own food and lawn chair. If you want to RSVP, go to https://partiful.com/e/XzBWPZvd99d3qwyzNin2.

The big event of the month, the annual San Fernando Valley Pride March, will make its return on June 27. This year’s theme is “Our Ground to Hold” – meant to be a reminder that LGBTQ+ voices and history belong in the valley. The march will begin at 3 p.m. at 7115 Van Nuys Blvd., where demonstrators will march one mile towards the Van Nuys Civic Center for a festival.

Last but not least, the San Fernando Brewing Company will be hosting an event on June 30, the last day of Pride Month. Starting at 6 p.m., they will be having a private drag lotería extravaganza with music and a show. Seating is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early. Also, all proceeds will go towards the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ+ youth.
