Nearly four weeks after the fatal two-car collision that killed 45-year-old San Fernando resident Yadira Caamal last month, it’s just been confirmed that the victim’s husband, Marcos Caamal, also passed away. He died on Aug. 9, after remaining hospitalized in a coma since the accident. He was 48.
Isela Saucedo, Yadira’s sister, told the San Fernando Valley Sun/el Sol that she and the rest of her family want the teen driver they believe to be at fault in the July 15 crash – which happened near the intersection of San Fernando Mission Boulevard and Hollister Street – to be arrested and charged in their deaths.
Three people were involved in the crash – Yadira and Marcos Caamal, who were in a white Audi sedan, and an unidentified teen, who was driving a black Silverado truck. Saucedo said they were informed the teen reportedly ran a red light and was driving at “double the speed limit.”
“The investigation is taking forever. He [the teen] has not been arrested. We are working to get him punished to the fullest extent of the law,” said Saucedo. “We’re willing to go to the DA, we’re willing to involve local advocacy groups, we’re willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that our family is represented – so that justice is served.
“I’m fighting for Marcos and Yadira – I am their voice,” she continued. “That’s what Yadira would do for me.”
San Fernando Police Department (SFPD) Chief Fabian Valdez described the accident as “devastating” and said it is still under investigation and will soon be turned over to the district attorney’s office.
“We are collaborating with them and then they will give us direction as to what else, if anything, they need regarding the case in order to move forward or determine the next course of action,” said Valdez.
Shortly after the deadly crash, SFPD Lt. CJ Chiasson told the San Fernando Valley Sun/el Sol that SFPD detectives were investigating the accident as a vehicular manslaughter case. Valdez at the time urged local residents to “drive safely … and slow down when traveling through San Fernando.”

First,
My deepest & heart felt condolences, respect & deepest sympathy to the victims, victims family & victims friends & community. This is truly a time for US, the community of San Fernando to come together, coalesce and assist the fully sworn, authorized and patriotic authorities in; investigating, presenting and seeking justice where justice is truly warranted. To this, I speak of the SFPD, LA County Sheriff Department (where necessary,), LA County District Attorney Office, LA County Judicial Courts and, of course, local elected representatives, recognized advocacy groups, clergy and importantly Out Community. Family, friends and any witnesses or individuals harboring credible information regarding this tragedy must come forward. Come forward for the sake of the victims, the family, the community and the sake of our own family and friends.
It is our civic duty and responsibility to do so. This unspeakable tragedy could have happened to any one of us, our family, friends, neighbors or forbid, innocent children.
I call upon not only the aforementioned affected and interested parties, but also the media to remain relentless in the pursuit of justice.
Regards.
BV
My Deepest Condolences and Prayers to the Family!! 🙏
